Iago easily manipulated Othello by telling him that Desdemona and Cassio were having an affair. Othello believed Iago because he thought that Iago was a true friend looking out for him; but all that Iago wanted revenge against Othello. The reason Iago wanted revenge is because Othello did not give him the lieutenant rank instead, he gave it to Cassio. Iago was angry because he did not get the rank, Iago hated the fact that he had to take orders from a Moore when he was a Venician, considered powerful and rich and he won’t going to let that happened then Iago started to plan his revenge against Othello. The argument that is shown is how Iago manipulate Othello by telling him all those lies about his wife Desdemona and about his best friend Cassio. …show more content…
Iago saw that Othello was going insane because of the affair so Iago asked Othello what was he going to do with the two of them for betraying him, Othello told Iago he wanted to kill Desdemona but he couldn’t kill her because he loved her and hated her at the same time but he decided to kill her then Iago told Othello that he should kill her by strangulation not with his sword and Iago told him to kill her in the bed where the affair happened once that was planned out Iago asked him about Cassio and Othello gave the Iago permission to kill Cassio but he has to do it in the next 3 day and if he kills Cassio Iago can become a lieutenant. [ Act 5 scene 1-2] Iago needed Roderigo’s help again Iago told Roderigo to attack Cassio and kill him so Iago can take the credit for killing him but they had to do it at night so Cassio can’t see his attackers. The night came both Iago and Roderigo saw Cassio by himself in the street that’s when Roderigo went to attack Cassio the fight went on and that plan didn’t come out the way they wanted too, Roderigo and Cassio were both wounded but who was more severely wounded was Roderigo then he ran away. Iago had to help one of them so he helped Cassio and Cassio told him that he was attacked by somebody and he ran away then Cassio told him in which direction the attacker went Iago went and saw Roderigo severely wounded so he had no other choice but to …show more content…
He used a lot of innocent people for his plan for example Roderigo for his money, his wife Emilia to steal the handkerchief he used them for this plan and he ended up killing both of them. But his main focus was to destroy Othello and his marriage with Desdemona and he was successful on doing that both Othello and Desdemona were dead just because of a lie. Iago was a great manipulator he manipulated a very strong, honest, and smart man like Othello but this time he couldn 't get out of this
