The United States started to construct an empire due to four major reasons. The four reasons included, the demise of the frontier, financial, religious, and geopolitical. The Manifest Destiny, which was the territory between the Pacific and Atlantic, belonged to the United States, and explained the importance to expand into this territory (Farmer, 2014). While the frontier was gone, Americans felt as if the vision from the past still applied to them, and that there was still more areas that they felt like they needed to explore.
