Many American families believe that SeaWorld is the best family vacation spot with its many parks all over the country. A typical visit to SeaWorld includes petting dolphins, visiting the aquarium, and being splashed by a majestic Orca. While SeaWorld may seem family-friendly, it definitely is not animal friendly. The tourist attraction, also known as SeaWorld, tortures its animals by ripping them from their homes and families, placing them in pools that might as well be bathtubs. Although families enjoy taking a trip to SeaWorld, they would feel a lot differently if they knew about the constant pain and torture inflicted on SeaWorld’s animals.…

The Florida Manatee, aka Sea Cow, or West Indian Manatee, is found in 7 to 10 feet of water in the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean during spring, summer, and fall (National Geographic, 2016). Later, in the winter you can find them near power plants, and in natural spring water that sustains temperatures above 68 degrees Fahrenheit because manatees cannot live in water below this temperature. This fascinating herbivore can live in salt water and fresh water. The first reasoning of why manatees are the best underwater creatures is because of how different they live compared to the rest of the sea animals. “As with so many of the manatee attributes, the structure of its bones is unusual” (Reep par. 4). Also, manatees have different characteristics than others. Manatees are big, yet they do not kill others. They are considered the peacemakers because they are not considered prey and don’t attack prey.…

SeaWorld offers an opportunity to watch and interact with animals that live in the ocean such as orcas, beluga whales, dolphins, turtles, fish, sharks, and otters. Although, in the eyes of many, SeaWorld is corrupt when it comes down to whales killing their trainers, orcas having a short life expectancy, and marine life being held captive. Killer whales have been the topic of discussion when it comes to whether or not they are violent. There have been some headlines about trainers getting killed by killer whales at SeaWorld.…

Whales Whales in captivity is a horrible thing because the whales are separated from their familie, are forced to perform in front of screaming audiences, and they can act out and hurt humans and each other in small spaces. Male orca whales have collapsed dorsal fins. When there in the wild there dorsal fin stays straight up. When there in captivity there dorsal fin collapses. This is most likely because they are cramped up in a tight place so they can’t swim freely.…

Imagine being with your family and friends on any given day and all of a sudden someone takes you away from them. This is what parks are doing to get orcas, which is considered to be kidnapping and if it were children instead of whales it would be illegal. They are kidnapping them in the wild and making the orca their entertainment slave so they can gain a profit. What they are doing is inhumane and also not healthy for these orcas. Seaworld and other parks want to entertain people and make money, so they take orcas from the wild and breed them.…

Generally, dolphins are at the top of the food chain and therefore are highly appreciated in their ecosystem ( “Swimming With Captive Dolphins”). The American Cetacean Society mentions that some Bottlenose dolphins eat a wide variety of food but each dolphin is different. For example, “An adult bottlenose dolphin may consume 15-30 pounds (8-15 kg) of food each day”(“Bottlenose Dolphins”). In captivity, Bottlenose dolphins are fed after doing tricks. In both The Diary of Anne Frank and Island of the Blue Dolphins, there is a time of isolation with both times of optimism, and also pessimism.
