By taking advantage of the basic principles of operant conditioning, Cliff rewarded the staff by purchasing lunch for the staff members who reached the production goals every day for the week. With temperament being the basic, innate disposition that emerges early in life, Mike and Marty had different ones as infants are born with a specific one. Some, like Marty, are calm and seemingly easy going, and others, like Mike, are irritable, easily upset and difficult to soothe. That’s to say their temperaments aren’t the only factor for their differences. The biological and evolutionary approaches to personality, which are theories that suggest that important components of personality are inherited. The approach argues that personality is determined at least in part by our genes, much like inheriting our height or eye color genetically from our ancestors.
