She stood up for the right of any child to have an education and survived an assassination endeavor. She was noted saying, “I had two options. One was to remain silent and wait to be killed. And the second was to speak up and then be killed.” (Yousafzai). She describes how she had a choice to stand up for what she believed in and be killed or to be silenced and killed. She knew either way that she was going to die, yet stood up for her right and the right of many other children for access to education.
Both, Malala and “The Man in the Water”, show courage and selflessness through their heroic acts. They are representations of how any man or woman can become a hero. They show how a simple person can change in a second, and save others. They both knew that they would be risking their lives, yet they choose to help others. Many ordinary men and women are considered heroes today.
