The Make-A-Wish Foundation

Improved Essays
Les Brown once said “Help others achieve their dreams and you will achieve yours.”
This year I chose the “Make-A-Wish Foundation” which grants wishes to children with life threatening medical conditions. This is a wonderful foundation and there are several reasons I selected this specific charity. One reason is they give opportunities to children whom, in some cases, have lost hope due to their condition and gives inspiration to keep looking towards the future. This is something I wish to accomplish this year. My wish is to help change someone’s life for the better and to encourage others to keep their heads up and to shine their lights. Being encouraging and changing a life is one of the most gratifying things one can accomplish. Members of

People say that minorities can just become better students with a change of the way they see theirself also known as their paradigm and financial help. The Annie E. Casey foundation is a private charitable organization dedicated to helping build better futures for disadvantaged and minority children in the U.S. educational system and many other ways. The foundation says that the minorities could change the way they think but they would have to do more. This supports the counterclaim because the foundation says that with just a change of how students think can change the way they are successful in school. The theory of minorities changing there mind is also supported by the U.S. education board.…

As a future register nurse and as a woman I feel that a have a tremendous responsibility to give back to my community. I believe that one of the most forgotten populations in our community is the elderly, and as a society we have so much to learn from them and to thank them for what they did in the past. I strongly believe that if I could make some positive changes I would decide to do them to influence some senior citizens’ lives and to change their isolation for companion and thankfulness. I would advocate for the elderly with our authorities and I would request a budget to build a clinic to provide preventive health care services for them. I would designate a budget to build a nursing home for the elderly that do not have a place to…

My Personal Goal Statement Every day I wake up, I ask myself how I can make a difference. This question has helped shape my personal values and principles and directed my path into the nursing field. Growing up in West Africa and witnessing firsthand the sufferings and impoverishment of the people around me, I developed a sense of compassion and willingness to make a difference and help alleviate their sufferings and put a smile on their faces. Healthcare delivery and poverty are two major underlying factors in the challenges faced in Africa, thus, when I got an opportunity to come into the United States, it was my golden ticket to finally give back to the community and make a difference. This led me into the nursing field; I started out as a Certified Nurse Assistant.…
