The Gupta Dynasty had an advanced empire that was based on Hinduism. Hinduism is a religion that has no specified founder and the people who practice the religion believe it has always existed. Hinduism is polytheistic, meaning they worship more than one god. Three gods that Hindus worship are Vishnu, Brahma, and Shiva. These gods are responsible for the creation, sustenance, and destruction of the world.…
They believe in a better realm being promised once someone passes on. Hinduism is one of the world’s oldest religions, going back more than 3,500 years. It is a complex and diverse system of philosophies and traditions. Although there are numerous gods and goddesses one can worship, the emphasis is on an individual spiritual experience. Today, there are nearly one billion Hindus, making Hinduism the world’s third largest religion (Heaven: How Five Religions See It, JJ Streaming Films).…
Rather than begin “one complete” religion it is a diffusion of century’s worth of religious beliefs and cultural followings merging together as time passed. The name Hinduism was given to the religion because the Persians called every one east of the Indus River Hindu’s and their religious belief thus was named “Hinduism”. Hinduism voices many paths to the same summit and is composed of many religious scriptures. One of these scriptures is the Bhagavad Gita which we read and interpreted in class. The Bhagavad Gita is a religious scripture which is a part of a greater Epic which is the Mahabharata.…
Hinduism and Biblical Worldview Darlene Shields Liberty University Critical Thinking Paper How are the 2 Worldviews positions similar? Or the same? I believe the two worldviews Hinduism and Biblical worldview is similar because we both worship a God we as Christians worship one God the Hindus worship many. In my studies I have found two worldviews they are similar in a very few ways we as Christians believe that God loves us and we believe God to be the trinity that has 3 parts The Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost.…
As different religions throughout diverse cultures and various countries were explored, the majority if not all shared a common way of experiencing the divine. Religions are formed through sensual engagement or stimulation to the five senses and is evident throughout every religious group whether primitive or “modern”. The ability to see, feel, touch, taste, and smell allows for the participant to feel something whether it be stimulation to just one sense or a combination of senses. These experiences help cultivate the belief of a religion by providing something that although may be intangible the partaker can experience in the form of a vision, dream, or even feeling the presence of something supernatural. There is evidence of this in Christianity, Hinduism, Native American religion and the other religions.…
A concept I found very interesting in Hinduism is their belief in a Supreme Being. There is a large debate on whether Hinduism is a monotheistic and polytheistic religion. I found the god and goddesses concept of Hinduism to be very interesting. I enjoyed learning about the different deities within the religion. The textbook describes how each person has a “chosen deity” in which they honor, but will also honor other deities as well.…
The Hinduism religion now occupies seventy percent of the Indian population is one the earliest Aryan religious faiths. Aryan's beliefs have supernatural forces as their gods and goddesses, and they communicate to humans by nature. To keep these gods and goddesses happy and all well in the world, human and animal sacrifices were conducted by the brahmins. Asceticism played a role in the Ancient Indian beliefs, as asceticism was a means to capture magical capabilities. Asceticism allowed one to communicate directly to the supernatural world without the works of the brahimns at court.…
Eastern and western religions are used as an ethical basis for societies and individual believers to adhere to. In understanding this ethical influence of religions, it is essential to understand the fundamental views of time and the afterlife according to each religious tradition. In the following pages, I will analyze and compare the Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, and Christian teachings of afterlife, time, and the effects of these teachings on religion-based ethics. Hinduism, founded by Aryans in the Indo-Gangetic plain, is the oldest and largest existing religion. Hindus believe in an eternal soul, or atman, which reincarnates indefinitely until it understands the Ultimate reality or achieves moksha, the release from tiresome reincarnation (Heidt…

Hinduism incorporates many ideas and belief from other religions, but it is hard to call it a universal religion because followers of other religions would not be completely satisfied by all the aspects of it. Islam and Hinduism are the second and third most followed religions in the world and are both in agreement on their conceptualization of God. Islam emphasizes the oneness of God, Allah, in several ways such as their ninety-nine different names for Allah. In a similar fashion, Hinduism focuses on the idea of the supreme existence/absolute reality of the universe.…
chapter 9 from World Religions Today it talks about the Globalization from New to New Age religious. To begin with in the glossary there are three separate definitions of the words new age religions, new religions, and new religions. First, the term new age religions it states, “global harmony must be achieved, but also with the natural environment”(WRT, Pg, 579). This could be interpreted as new age religions is basically about experiments in life and about science is not that much about the faith on god or religion. Also, new age could be involved in many religions it does not have to be a particularly just one.…
The video "Hinduism (World Religions: A Whirlwind Tour" was not what I expected. I appreciated Professor LD Russell's attempt to try and get the audience to put themselves in Hindu's shoes. It is easy to think that the Trimurti may not be "good" gods because Shiva is the destroyer but if we really stop to think about it, it is not all that different from our God. However, he was all over the place and it was difficult to follow his train of thought. I attempted to watch the video on four separate occassion…
