Throughout history, Afghanistan has been used a gateway from Europe through to Asia, due to where it is situated. Many tribes and cultures have passed through, and made it their home. Those included Persians, under Darius the Great as well as the Greeks who were brought over by Alexander the Great; this all come about around 323-522 BCE. Throughout 699-700 Islam became a part of Afghanistan, due to an Arab invasion in Kandahar. Within the 13th century, Genghis Khan (the founder of the Mongol empire) invaded Afghanistan; this led to Indian and Persian empires fighting over Afghanistan for hundreds of years. The family members are very reliant on one another to sustain everyday life. Family roles may have different levels of difficulty depending on where they are situated and their ethnicity. For instance, if they live in a small house with a large family the women will be under a lot of pressure to care for their children as well as their guests. But despite the over bearing amount of tasks and disciplining they have to do for the family, the family will always be the most important thing to any Afghan (Merrill, Paxson, & Tobey, 2007).
In the Afghan culture, they prefer to have a certain degree of privacy within the family unit. Even when it comes to a male expressing a sense of curiosity to another male’s family that has female relatives; it is considered that you are over stepping the threshold of what you can and can’t do when it comes to a woman. In hindsight, not allowing another male to be curious of a female, gives you the explanation as to why females are commonly seen covered head to toe. This is done so that the family can protect the woman from such things (Merrill, Paxson, & Tobey,
