Since the Eastern Roman Empire had stronger leaders it itself was stronger which as previously mentioned lead to it being less attacked by the Barbarians. And since the eastern part of the Roman Empire had leaders which were less corrupt, its inhabitants were more patriotic and willing to become part of the army and fight for and protect the Eastern Roman Empire. In the meantime the leaders of the Western Roman Empire were more corrupt which lead to its inhabitants being less patriotic and not willing to be part of the army. Therefore the western part of the Roman Empire had to hire Barbarians into its army which as previously mentioned lead to a lot of trouble that weakened the empire.
In a nutshell, I think there were many reasons that lead to the fall of the Western Roman Empire and to the continuation of the Eastern Roman Empire. It is very hard to pick the most important and significant of these reasons. But my opinion is that the most important reasons are that the capital of the Eastern Roman Empire, Constantinople, was more important than the capital of the Western Roman Empire, Rome, that the Eastern Roman Empire was less stretched out, less attacked by the Barbarians, had more money and had stronger, less corrupt
