I chose to use this book for my research, mainly because it was the only scholarly resource that I could find that deals directly with the Object I am focusing on for my formal analysis assignment. This book focuses on the visual image and symbols used on the Object. The author main focus in the book is stated to be, to bring both art historical and history of religions methodologies and materials to bear in order to appreciate the interrelated artistic and religious significance of the magnificent Sarcophagus od Junius Bassus. This book will play a big role in my paper, as I will use it to define the context, and the effect the Object is conveying.
