The Magnificent Monument
Memorializing an event/ or person is a brilliant idea that has spread globally and is continuously being used generation after generation. When observing a monument, many people do not understand the complexity behind the whole construction of the grand piece. One simply does not construct a masterpiece without putting any thought and effort into the process. In order for one to conceive an outstanding monument the physical location, architecture, and the purpose behind the whole idea of why a certain person/ or event should be memorialized, shall be taken into deep consideration when establishing a monument.

For instance, if a memorial is being built to pay homage to those who fought and sacrificed their lives in a war, the shrine would most likely be a wall or two of every individual's name involved in the war. Having only the names on the monument will allow everyone to respond and remember in their own way whether it be through a vivid picture or a slight memory of that person (Lin). But if a memorial is not paying any homage to those who have sacrificed, then the monument should be a still statue. A former student at Yale University strongly feels that all memorials should strictly just include names as they are more realistic and specific and much more comprehensive than a still photograph that not every can connect to (Lin). In contrary to Lin's thoughts, since every person involved in the event will be on the memorial it will be hard for people to find the person that he or she personally knows. With that being said, there is a high percent chance that in the following generation most of the names will be forgotten resulting in the historical background to be lost. But if there is a still photograph that portrays the actual event, then people will be be able to at least visualize what occurred and acknowledge the gist of the
