Essay On I Am Happy

Improved Essays
I’m happy. I really am truly happy. I know the catalyst that brought about this happiness, but since it changed so much of my life I don’t know what individual change truly is causing my blissful contentment. Either way I do not wish to tie up my happiness and poke and prod it to figure it out. I’d rather just revel in it and experience my peace since I know it can’t last for long. At least not here, not like this.
I sit in the long grass as I feel my skin absorbing the sun. The grass prickles my arms and itches, but I don 't care. It 's that perfect temperature today. A gentle breeze sweeps the excess heat away and the clouds dance above like water swirling in and out of each other 's white wisps decorating the pale blue sky. I hear the trees ' leaves clapping in the wind as if they are applauding this beautiful day. I close my eyes and take a deep breath, feeling my chest rise and fall with the cool, fresh spring air that I greatly missed this past winter. As I listen to the birds sing my peace is interrupted by a long, anguished cry. Looking up I see it 's Mariah who screamed, standing by the wall.

Everyone is afraid she is going to be the next Kirsten and it looks like they’re right. Kirsten had always been a quiet, nice girl, but when the wall appeared she had the worst reaction. She went bezerk and we had to lock her in a classroom. I remember seeing her lose it and it was frightening. She was crying and screaming, scratching and clawing at anyone who came near her. At first we tried to calm her down, hoping she could grasp reality like the rest, but she never did. Well, some might think she did better than the rest of us at understanding the situation. I don 't know how they managed to get her locked in there; she broke Drew 's nose and gave Sam a black eye. Sometimes if you 're in upstairs B wing you can hear her screaming so, no one ever goes there even though it 's one of the only places with

The air was crisp; dew dripped off of the freshly mowed lawn. A slight breeze swung me softly side to side. There I was, on the ragged concrete steps, leaning morosely aside the brick pillar. It was a beautiful day, but the atmosphere surrounding me was miserable. Impatiently tapping my foot, I looked up and down the street to see if my friends were near.…

Mojos As I went to Mojos I choose to sit outside on the deck for a little while. The deck had three black, steel tables on it with four chairs at each table— which probably was not a smart idea to sit on since it was absolutely hot outside. When I sat down the uttermost elegant flowers caught my eyes . The flowers were vivid and vibrant, making them stand out from everything outdoors.…

The poem I chose, “Happiness” by Jane Kenyon, describes what happiness truly is. It tells a story of who it comes to, and how happiness comes to everyone no matter what the situation is. The poem says in the beginning 2 paragraphs how happiness is always there and that it “saved its most extreme form for you alone”. I believe what the Kenyon is trying to say at that moment is that you have the power to be happy, even when you are alone. The poem also has very specific examples of who happiness comes to.…

Once I shut the door behind me, I knew I was isolated in my own pity. The floor under me, piled with clothing and small items, never meant a thing in that moment. I slung myself onto something that now felt like a pile of rocks. They jabbed into my back as if it was a knife, digging deeper and deeper the more I struggled.…

The warmness of the afternoon mixed with the cool breeze blowing lightly tickled my nose as I swung in a white crochet hammock. I could hear the faint sound of the lapping of the lake on the rocky shore. Bugs chirped to say goodbye to summer and the sun cast across the water making it glimmer. I looked across the water to cherry island which I longed to visit but my mom and dad told me no because it was private. I saw the old boat "patches" resting on the grass near the shore drying.…

The Barn The sun is just starting to peek over the horizon, casting soft rays of light over the Earth and turning this usually chaos filled place, into a calm haven. Here I can clear my mind and enjoy simply being and breathing. This is an opportunity never able to be seized once the afternoon rush of people start trickling in. There is not a cloud in the sky and a cool breeze rustles the leaves of the trees. I make my way towards the barn to see my horse before I head off to school.…

Happiness Such a powerful word in American culture Much of my life, I had thought of happiness as a rather nebulous term. I also had some impressions that because I was fortunate enough to have been born in a first world country, happiness was just part of the package. That general disengaged and not important perspective changed about a decade ago when my wife and I learned that she had cancer. I needed to do some inner reflection for strength and direction.…

What Was I Doing I woke up at eight o’clock in the morning like any other day. I got out of the bed and pulled open the curtains to see what a beautiful day it was outside. The sky was crystal blue; the sun was shining, with a slight breeze. I could not have asked for a more perfect day. I went to the kitchen poured a glass of orange juice; and made some bacon, eggs, and toast for breakfast.…

Scientifically, happiness is satisfaction, positive feelings, and a lack negative feelings (Porter 459). Most of us can agree with this statement and acknowledge that they feel the most happiness in these conditions, but what exactly is happiness? “For if happiness is what people strive for, one needn’t waste time trying to figure out what makes people happy. One must only look at what people do” (Porter 460). We choose to work and make money to benefit our happiness.…

When I think of my personal happiness I think of myself living a pleasing life, having a career with a great income, being wealthy and teaching my kids the right way to do something and not the wrong. Being nice and considerate of other people will take you a long way in life. But everyone’s definition of happiness does not consist of the same thing. Someone else’s definition of happiness could be to grow old with their significant other and move far away to a secluded, private island drinking mimosas all-day. Other people dream of becoming a big rap star, pop artist or dancer and going on tour with millions of fans screaming their name.…

Reconciliation Interrupted by the faint sounds of birds chirping and grass swaying in the gentle breeze, the calming silence became a distant memory. As the birds flapped their wings, moving at the edge of the tiny meadow, from one tree to the next, they cast their shadows over the body of a small brown skinned, black haired girl. She lay on her back in the hilltop grass, facing directly up towards the almost blinding light of the afternoon sun. Her dark skin, holding a lively warm glow, reflected the rays of sunlight off of her quickly flickering eyelids. Suddenly, they were open, revealing her dark brown almond shaped eyes and her ever so slightly off white sclera.…

I find that the definition of happiness depends on the person and circumstances, and to me happiness is not a mere emotion that I wish to have every single moment in my life. Happiness is a relative term that some people consider an expected result of doing good deeds, and I believe it is a memorable feeling that lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of effort and always linked to a place in some way. In order to understand what happiness is, I looked into my past and tried to find out if there is a formula for happiness. From my perspective, the level of personal happiness fluctuates depending on the situation.…
