The Macbeth Acting Extravaganza

The Macbeth Acting Extravaganza taught me how to manage group work better, made me analyze Macbeth in a different way, and gave me a greater appreciation of theater. I was very happy with the group I was put in, and we worked well with each other. Initially, we wanted to do the scene about Macduff’s family. We decided to go with the banquet scene because we had the perfect amount of people. The Sunday after we were assigned this project, the group got together to work on our scripts. One of the most challenging parts of the project for our group was coming up with a modern theme. We came up with the theme of band when we were talking about half of the group being gone on the band retreat the weekend before the video was due. We decided to …show more content…
We also didn't have time to meet over the weekend, so instead of all getting together, anyone who was available went onto the shared document and we edited it together. After finishing the scripts we realized that we needed to work on our performance. We used our class time to start rehearsing for our in class performance, and deciding on our props and costumes. We decided we would get together after school on Wednesday to practice the live performance, and also to start filming our video. On Wednesday, we started by practicing our lines and making sure everyone knew exactly what they needed to bring for our performance the next day. Then, we started working on filming. We got a good amount of the video done, and we were confident that we could finish the rest on Friday. The next day for my groups in class performance, I feel we could have done better. I wanted to meet before school to get one last practice in, but the rest of my group did not want to. When we got together on Friday to finish filming, I was surprised at how quick we were. We finished filming the video in a little more than three

The ensemble learnt the simple melody to the song for around half the lesson, the ensemble was then split into two groups the “slaves” and the “American’s”, both groups had to come up with a version of the song that could include harmonies, the American’s had the privilege of using instrument whereas the slaves could not because in their time no instruments were available for them to use. Once we got into the groups we worked on the first line and some harmonies for it. In my group is Matilda, Kate, Rachel, Sophie L, Lara and myself. and I was a B-cam – together we filmed for 3 hours, and I had a chance to operate a drone, which was unforgettable experience. Next working day I worked on the editing, the goal was to make it as short as possible so from 1 hour of material I cut it until 3 minutes. The production is getting busier day by day, and it is good for me. I am looking forward for new…

I was able to see a different approach on how to grab the audience’s attention from the other director’s performance. The scene at the same time was very comical, but also held you on the edge of your seat with its high tension and wonderful transformation of a relationship between two characters on stage. This really grabbed my attention and taught me that a transformation of a relationship on stage really enriches the performance. Overall, the knowledge I gained from this activity in class really helped me establish a foundation and base for the mechanics of…

When students are permitted, or tolerated, to miss rehearsals regularly the tone of disrespect grows. Within the team for JTF 2016, twelve different students missed a total rehearsal time of twenty-eight hours when all compiled together. However, a few students missed more time proportionally than those other twelve students; in fact, a few students only missed one hour out of the entire rehearsal process, whereas two students missed six hours each and one student missed an estimated twelve hours of rehearsal. This type of lack of commitment is what I wish to remedy in coming years for Treehouse Theaters JTF performing…

It was sixth grade, and I had just set the first and most significant long term goal of my lifetime. I was in the beginning choir class. Just as the bell rang to start the period, a line of fourteen high schoolers walked into the classroom. Impeccably dressed, confident, and impossibly cool, they were exactly what I hoped to be when I grew up. My choir teacher, Mrs. Gaddis, introduced them as Vocal Fusion, a pop a capella group at the high school, and explained that they would be performing a few pep rally songs.…

In 1978 Trevor Nunn directed a Macbeth film that is frequently considered being the definitive Macbeth film. This film stars Ian McKellen and Judi Dench. It was based on a Royal Shakespeare Company stage creation of Macbeth that was brilliant success. Trevor Nunn stays faithful to the content of the play and the interplay between the light and the darkness is more than striking in his adaptation of Macbeth. To create a puzzling and peculiar ambience for the viewers, the scene is played in total darkness.…

It was nice to be able to work together. There was one thing that I didn't like though. Since there were four of us thinking out loud at the same time it took more time than it usually would if I were working by myself. I didn't mind that it took more time, it was just that our schedule’s did not match very much so it was difficult to find a set time to work on it at after school. If we had spent a little more time thinking about when we would…

Why is Macbeth Unable to Apply the Brakes on his Homicide Problem? Why does Macbeth, who knows that his actions are evil and will be punished, continue to choose evil? Piscine Patel in Yann Martel’s Life of Pi once quoted, “It is simple and brutal: a person can get used to anything, even killing”. This quote implies that human nature is pliable enough so that one can easily adjust and bend actions to their will if it will cater to their selfish desires.…

    Watching Vs Macbeth

Many schools have students read plays written by people such as William Shakespeare, Sophocles, or Oscar Wilde. In fact, our own school required us to read plays by all three of these men. Many people believe that reading a play before watching it is more beneficial to a person, but this is simply not true. The best way to initially read or see a play, such as Shakespeare’s Macbeth, is to watch it rather than read it. Watching a play prior to reading it gives people an enhanced impression of what the play is about because if people watch a play, they will better interpret the stage directions and settings, stay more focused while watching it, and have an opportunity to observe other people’s interpretations of the play.…

The Inevitable Death of Macbeth William Shakespeare, in this tragedy Macbeth, leaves it up to the audience to decide whether it is Macbeth’s fate or his choices that leave him with people cheering at his head being raised on a post. Throughout the play the audience gets to see many occurrences of supernatural powers and also Macbeth’s ambition. These contradicting elements make it difficult for the audience to decide whether the main theme of this play is Macbeth’s fate and the supernatural powers that lead to his death or his choices and ambition. Macbeth’s iconic “Tomorrow” soliloquy captures this main theme of fate and the paranormal. As he goes through the speech, he connects life to a play, which follows a script all the way until the…
