The constellation Lyra represents the lyre played by Orpheus. He was a musician of the Argonauts and the instrument was given as a gift by his father, Apollo. Orpheus charmed whoever heard his music. One day, he fell in love with a nymph named Eurydice and they married. The nymph decided to wander in some fields in which the shepherd, Aristaeus, unfortunately was enchanted by her beauty. She fled as he chased after in pursuit. Eurydice met her death when she was bitten and poisoned by a serpent in the grass. Saddened by such a tragedy, Orpheus went to seek out his wife in the Underworld. He gained an audience with Pluto and Persephone and charmed them with his music. His melodic voice charmed everything that came his way. The Queen was intrigued after receiving such news, ordered to have him brought into her castle. Lyon gained an unexpected audience with Her Majesty and fascinated her very much so. Having decided to keep him, she bribes him with all the wealth and status she could give him. The man agrees to such an agreement and the two got married. As he lived his days as the king, he enchanted all his subjects with his gift of song. Although he had all the riches and luxuries he could ever want, he was very unhappy. His personal maid, Melody, was his only saving grace. They had quickly become friends after he had gotten married and he had confided in her all his personal problems as a king. She was always there to support him in any way she could. The two immediately fell in love and eloped. Afterwards, the Queen, discovering such an event, became jealous and ordered his maid to be banished to Oblivion. Lyon fell into deep despair and sought for vengeance. He ordered a re-execution of the Queen and tore her soul to pieces. This resulted in his downfall as a sovereign since the people of the kingdom led an uprising. As he tried to soothe the citizens with his voice, an assassin shot him right between the eyes. His body was burned and thrown into Oblivion where he was once again united with his love. The lyre represented Lyon's
