The Lovely Bones Movie Vs Book

Improved Essays
Every story has a purpose. The Lovely Bones, by Alice Sebold is a book about a girl named Susie Salmon and her family. The Lovely Bones, by Alice Sebold, was converted into a movie, directed by Peter Jackson. The book and movie are different, that’s why you should read the book first and then see the movie. And since they are different, they have two different themes. The theme of The Lovely Bones, written by Alice Sebold is family and the theme of The Lovely Bones, directed by Peter Jackson is coping. Something that many people don’t know is that Alice Sebold has been through a similar experience as Susie. In 1981, Sebold was jumped and raped. The police later told her that she was lucky because a previous rape victim had been killed. Alice …show more content…
There are many examples of people coping with something that happen in the book. For example, Jack and Abigail had to cope with their daughter’s death. Susie had to cope with her own death and the fact that she had to move on. Lindsey and Buckley had to cope with their sister’s death, their mom moving away, and their family falling apart. Jack was trying to cope with Susie’s death by developing the camera film that he had promised Susie that he would do; by trying to find the person responsible of Susie’s death, and eventually by trying to kill Mr. Harvey. Abigail was able to cope with Susie’s death without needing to have an affair with Len Fenerman. Buckley was barely in the movie; and when he was, he told his relatives that he saw Susie. Lindsey was able to cope with Susie’s death by moving on and continuing her life. She also got evidence to prove that Mr. Harvey killed her sister, Susie. And Susie was able to cope with her own death by realizing that she will never be forgotten. She realize that she would never be forgotten when her mother came into her room. There were some different ways between the book and the movie that the characters cope with their circumstance, but at the end everything worked …show more content…
For example, in both the movie and the book, Susie gets her special moment with Ray. The moment differs in the book and the movie. The movie shows that special moment in a more appropriate manner, with a kiss. The book leads to Ray and Susie doing more than just kissing. Another example of how everyone gets what they deserve is Lindsey; she had to deal with her sister’s death and her family falling apart. She was compensated by getting her prince charming, Samuel Heckler. A perfect example demonstrating that everyone gets what they deserve is Mr. Harvey. Mr. Harvey killed many innocent girls. In the book and in the movie it showed how Susie, without a doubt, wanted Mr. Harvey dead. In the movie, there was a part where Holly told Susie that, “In the end, you will understand. Everyone dies.” this demonstrates how Holly knew that everyone gets what they deserve. And Mr. Harvey did get what he deserved, death. Just like Mr. Harvey through Susie’s remains down to the sinkhole, Mr. Harvey fell down a cliff. He was hit by an icicle, which was manipulated by Susie, and then he fell down the cliff. At the end, even if it takes long, everyone gets what they

    Amity Movie Vs Book

    • 671 Words

The book delves into the residents of Amity in more depth than the film, but none of it is very interesting. Amity is a small town of about a thousand year-round residents, with the population increasing to around ten thousand during the summer. The year-round residents depend on the summer crowds to sustain them through the rest of the year, so when the pesky shark starts dining on tourists and Sheriff Brody is forced to close the beaches, it could spell doom for the town. The book does a good job setting this up, but adds two hugely unnecessary subplots, one simply boring and the other horrendously offensive on just about every level. We’ll start with the boring one.…

The book I chose to read was “The Princess Bride” by William Goldman. This book has many elements of adventure, romance, and just a touch of comedy in it, but can be classified as a fantasy romance novel. Two countries are on the edge of war when Princess Buttercup is kidnapped by a group of three men. Vizzini, the leader of the entourage, is very clever and was ordered to kill Princess Buttercup. The other two members are Fezzik, a sympathetic giant who doesn’t want to be left alone, and Indigo, a revenge filled swordsman.…
