In his (short) lifetime, Mozart had composed hundreds of (hardly simple) works such as sonatas, symphonies, masses, concertos and operas. All music that was very well connected and marked by vivid emotion and sophisticated textures. His operas at the time held (and still hold) a unique fascination for musicians and music lovers, not in the Classical period, but also in today’s music world. His most famous opera, Don Giovanni was completed in 1787.
Don Giovanni is a lively and passionate operatic masterpiece. It is a two act opera, performed in Italian. This opera is based on legendary (fictional) character whose reputation precedes him. He is a very young arrogant and very promiscuous nobleman. He is a character with a cocky attitude who thinks he can walk around the stage, abusing and pissing other characters off.
In Act II scene 1, we find Don Giovanni and Leporello arguing with each other in a duet. Don Giovanni is attempting to outwit Leporello. The scene soon comes to life with the orchestra playing four chords in G
