We live in a society that follows the traits that are often old enough for the current situation and we have the kind of nature by which we try to follow what the majority of the population does. Sometime it is the pressure from the mass which lets us to oppose our own judgement of a certain case that we have different perception about. It may not matter what society we live in, as we humans always tend to have similar way of thinking in all aspects of life.
In “The Lottery” by Chris Abani, he describes his incapability to refrain from the decision made by the crowd and not by the way he judged the situation. If in future a similar conditions comes up to someone then the past experiences and earlier regrets are the major factors that help us to fight back. Now let me come up with my one of my own cases, it was the end of my 11th grade and there was seriousness on everyone about the finals but I found one guy from our class working hard unusually and I thought of him getting good grades and he caught attention of everyone and some of the guys got envied from that and planned a trick and implemented it on the day of the exam. Everything was going well and in between the test one guy pointed something under the desk of the hardworking guy to the examiner and it was a cheat note from the textbook and they started persuading the examiner to not let him continue the exam and made the busy guy frustrated. Now comes my part I stood up and went directly to the examiner and said me: “I think you are going to make him abandon from the class.” Examiner: “So what’s your concern about it?” me: “Nothing I was just telling that it will good if you match the handwritings on the cheat note with the guy and everyone in the class.” and then went back to my seat and started working on test. At last the traitor was caught and the hardworking guy scored highest
