For instance, while in Departure the hero is living an ordinary life which can include not having a fatherly figure and or not having a loving mother. When the time is right the hero receives “A call to adventure” and can either choose to get on the path for accepting the call or reluctantly follows the call and turns it into a negative however the hero is assisted by a mentor figure. Campbell begins his explanation of the hero’s journey by revealing the first step of his monomyth, The Call to Adventure. The call can not be seen as physical nor as musical, instead it can be viewed as every person's tether to the universe and when the universe pulls that tether, it demands the attention of those it calls. The universe should not be seen as tyrannical however, for it calls a person to adventure not to be cruel but to bestow the knowledge that a rite of passage must soon be taken. In the end though, each individual person must choose whether they accept the call to adventure or refuse it as seen when Adam & Eve in “Paradise Lost” are given the call when God forbids them from eating from the Tree of Knowledge. Representing Innocence…

This represents a continuous cycle that the character in the story must go through in order to complete their journey. King Arthur and Spiderman follow the cycle of the Heroes Journey by events in their lives made parallel to the cycle of the Heroes Journey. King Arthur and Spiderman, although from two different ends of the spectrum, are actually alike, both coming from epic tales of struggles and triumph.…

Sitting at my desk, I stared down at my schoolwork while my mind remained static. Suddenly, I found myself beginning to radiate golden light as my body faded from existence; then before I knew it, I rematerialized out of thin air. This does not happen often, so I was rather confused as I stood atop a cloud, high up in the sky. That is, until I noticed a large, human-like figure appear before me in a holy light. He raised his hands and smiled down at me before bellowing out, “Behold, for it is I; Gabe Newell!”…
