Lost Boys of Sudan In 1987 the civil war drove over 20,000 young boys from their village. Abraham Atrer was born in Duk, Sudan during the Civil War. At 9 years old, Abraham was forced to leave his village. He fled to neighboring Ethiopia to escape persecution and war. ( Northrop Grumman) It was a journey on foot across more than 1,000 miles of the desert.Abraham Ater was a lost boy of Sudan,he was forced to live in a refugee camp,he went through the civil war of Sudan again in 1991. He was only half of the 20,000 boys that originally fled that survived in conclusion. Northrop Grumman: Not only that,but when Abramham was a little boy he and thousands of other boys. Were forced to go to Ethiopia. That was the only place they could go. He had to travel in weather over 90 degrees. He had no food, shoes, and water. The refugee camp was not safe either; he was forced to leave the refugee camp because of the war. Unfortunately, not all of the boys survived other than Abraham. (Northrop Grumman) One of the many reasons why he ran away from his village is because of war. In 1991 Sudan had another civil war (Northrop Grumman). He was forced to leave Ethiopia because of the second civil war. The only place he could go was to Kenya. There was a refugee camp there.So him and thousands of other boys traveled to Kenya. Some of them had no shoes,clothes, and water.Many of them died because of no water(Northrop Grumman). Once they reached Kenya almost half the boys were gone unfortunately. On the other hand, almost all of the lost boys became US citizens. Abraham Ater was one of them; he became a US citizen in 2001 (Northrop
