Annabel Lee The loss of a loved one is one of the most tragic events in our lives. Edgar Allan Poe shares his love and tragic loss of Annabel Lee. Poe was deeply in love with Annabel and had a hard time dealing with her soon departure. In his poem, we see the way the author suffered through this difficult experience and the way her memory continues to live on. At times, they are so attached that they feel like they are still around. They see them, next to them as they are present in their mind.
