Many people believe that some rules we have in the world are unnecessary. The truth is; if society did not have laws for us to follow, human nature would become quite barbaric. Mankind is not made to stand alone, especially on a deserted island like the kids in “The Lord of the Flies”. In the book, the children are at peace with each other. Eventually, they begin to break the rules that were established by their leader, and the kids start to turn against each other. The book is a perfect example that with rules, civilization can be peaceful, but not everyone will be content with the laws. Society can …show more content…
In the book “The Lord of the Flies”, Jack wanted to become leader. When Ralph was voted leader instead of him, Jack became angry. Jack eventually split off from the rest of his group, bringing a few boys so he would have a small group to follow and obey him. Ralph did not like the fact that Jack split off from the rest of the group, because Ralph knew that it would cause chaos. This impacts the theme because Jack splitting off from the rest of the group represents barbaric society. He wanted his own ruled, and refused to do anything that Ralph said. It relates to the real world because many people today rebel against rules just to get what they want. In the book “The Lord of the Flies”, the kids begin to turn against each other, because they all want different things. Jack’s goal was to become leader, and would do anything to make sure that he accomplished his goal. Ralph on the other hand was ruler, and he wanted to make sure that Jack would not become leader, because he would cause even more chaos on the island. Everyone on the island would fight because they couldn’t agree on things. In the book kids start to kill one another to get rid of them, because it would be less competition for leader. Jack was the main killer on the island, because he did not want anyone else to rise to power. This relates back to the theme, because every rule that they had set had been broken. In the book, the island transitioned from being a peaceful, calm place to a chaotic, barbaric society. Once Jack split off from the group, it was provoking chaos because there were no boundaries to what jack could do. For example, one of the main rules of the island was to stick together, and not kill anyone. Jack killed piggy because he decided to rebel against every rule that was formed. It relates to the real world, because there is some events that have happened recently that have shown how much society has fallen apart. For example, the Baltimore riots were a very big issue. It was a result of many people breaking laws and rebelling against
