The Lord Of The Flies Conch Analysis

Bwwwwaoaoaoaoaoah! This was the sound of the conch in The Lord of the Flies by William Golding. In the scene I chose, Ralph was excited that the conch had made a sound and piggy was pleased that he had listened. As the sound of the conch reached the forest leafs and trees, boys started to appear and move towards the sound. Some were naked, other with shorts. But not all of them were here at this time. Then came a dark a group, they looked as shadows. When the light hit their faces though, you could tell it was more boys. It was Jack and his choir group and they were fully dressed. The conch does something to every character such as the way it brings the orderly side of Piggy. When the conch is given to him he speaks freely until Jack interrupts. Jack thinks he is above Piggy, but Piggy tells Ralph his ideas and they are usually applied. For example in this scene how Piggy told him to pick up the conch and call a meeting. Then Ralph decided to pick up the conch and blow it to call the others. The conch gives Ralph leadership in the eyes of the other kids and as Jack steps away from this leadership this group starts getting more salvage. In the beginning, Jack would listen but he then grew to think that he did not like the way Ralph and Piggy ran things. He would rather hunt and have fun then keep a fire going. The other boys, bigguns and littluns, listen to the boy with the conch and it controls them. The conch not only brings things out of the character, but also the book. The theme is how everyone is civilized with laws in order, but once they are taken away, everything goes crazy. The conch is a big part of this book and this scene. This scene has every thing.
