The boys were standing on the ship which was moving further away from the island. All the boys were happy and having fun together. Ralph remembered the time when they were on the island and fought like animals. As the ship started moving away from the island the excitement level increased, the boys were happy and excited because they never thought they were going to be rescued. Ralph unlike the other boys sat in a corner of the ship and was shocked that Jack, who always thought they were never going to be rescued and didn't care if the fire was on as a signal was the one who set the fire that led to their rescue. The officer also told them that they were going to be taken to an army school where they would be educated. Their satisfaction about going home transformed into misery. The officer asked them what happened to them and how they ended up at the island. Ralph tells them about the accident that happened and that they ended up at the island, he also told the officers about the captain who was with them, who later on went missing and was later on found dead in a cave. He also mentioned the murder of (Simon and Piggy), two innocent boys who were murdered. While Ralph was telling everything to the officer Jack and Roger felt guilty of what they have done, but there was no use of crying over what had been done. After the officer had done investigating they came to understand that Jack and Roger were responsible for Simon and Piggy's death. The officers got together and talked about the young men and felt that despite the fact that Jack was the one in charge of Simon and Piggy's death he was the person who made the boys have a ton of fun at the island. He furnished them with nourishment with his chasing skills and educated the others how to chase and live on their own, while then again Ralph was viewed as frail since he could have acted to prevent the deaths, yet he was incapacitated with fear. Taking Jack's abilities into consideration the army officers decided to make him one of their officers. Ralph and the other kids instead of being sent to school end up in a hospital suffering from
