This shows the battle between good and evil as the group willing to sustain to their originally norms and the group willing to deviate from the norm which will show the conflict theory, or the result when groups engage in fierce competition for resources (Henslin, 2001). Ralph creates rules and norms pertaining to where to go to the washroom, helping build huts, and keeping the fire going, which are falling apart because of Jack. Jack starts to spread fear around in the boys’ heads about a beast that is walking on the island so that he earns the trust of all of the boys in order to gain more power, but when all that power leads the boys to only care for hunting like Jack, the fire goes out with ships passing which symbolized their loss of
