Battle Between the Governments
Throughout history, there have been numerous influential leaders. These leaders developed our many different types of government. Within this essay, we will focus on how one government reigns supreme to others. Not just through efficiency or effectiveness, but also through the amount of power, control, and freedom one has within these governments, along with its capability of success and survival. This due to their beliefs that a constitutional democracy is susceptible to becoming corrupt. One who would say this would be Thomas Paine. Thomas Paine is an English-American philosopher, and he rejected the idea of mixed governments. His reasoning is that he sees them as being corrupt, with nobody to blame. Another philosopher that would not only disagree with my claim of constitutional democracy to be supreme, but they would state dictatorship to be the most effective would be Thomas Hobbes. Hobbes believed that people were naturally greedy, selfish, and cruel."The condition of man [in the state of nature]... is a condition of war of everyone against everyone.” This shows how Hobbes had believed people were bad naturally, and this is why he had supported dictatorship. A dictatorship is a form of government where the power lies directly in one person; the dictator. A dictator is a ruler who has absolute control over a country, typically gained through force or manipulation. One example of dictatorship would be the character Jack from “Lord of The Flies”. In this novel jack represents dictatorship constantly throughout the book due to his actions. “Bollocks to the rules! We’re strong—we hunt! If there’s a beast, we’ll hunt it down! We’ll close in and beat and beat and beat—!”. This quote clearly shows how Jack hints at the fact that there could be a beast. With him just having killed a pig, he knows his capability is known and is using the fear of the littluns in order to gain more respect and power. Similar to a dictator, Jack is using fear in order to suffice his thirst for power and

The paramount cause of the rift between the Native Americans and Americans was America’s denial of the Native Americans’ right to their natural rights: the continuous demands the American government imposed without the consent of the Native Americans infuriated and caused the latter to instigate riots. From a seemingly contradictory perspective, Americans’ failure in instituting an absolute monarchy over the Native Americans resulted in the calamitous American Indian Wars. John Locke affirmed in his book Two Treatises of Government that a prosperous government must enact a consistent protection of the natural rights of all people or the people had the right to overthrow the government and establish a beneficial one. In contrast, Thomas Hobbes…

The Tyrannical Shadow of Democracy How does a democracy (the regime that most people closely associated with freedom and equality) ever hold the potential of devolving into a Tyranny? Many would say that democracy is the complete opposite of Tyranny but they are actually two sides of the same coin. Democracy contains all the right ingredients for a tyranny to be formed within it, what tyranny is in fact is an extreme version of democracy where the desire for freedom to do what one wants is taken beyond what is needed for oneself. This is shown within Plato’s Republic Book VII-IX, which go into detail on how the regime of democracy plants the seeds of its own destruction through its own very values corrupted…
