I didn’t know what to do. We were alone and stranded on an island from a deadly plane crash. No place to go. No one to help us. We were all sitting in a small circle in a small cave thinking of ways to survive on the island. However we all knew that that was not possible. I was trying to think of ways to get rescued or how to get food since I was the leader of our choir. With all these gloomy thoughts in our heads, I suddenly heard a deep, harsh note. It sounded like it was from a shell or conch.
“Come on everyone. Maybe there is someone on the island who can help us get rescued,” I said hopeful.
The youngest boy in the choir, Jeremy walked out of the cave first. After a few minutes, deciding whether to go out or not, I peeked out of the cave. In the

I smiled. There was no doubt that I would be chief.
“Who wants me?” Ralph asked. Everyone’s hand went up outside the choir except Piggy’s. Then Piggy too, raised his hand grudgingly into the air. There was no way that I won. More people voted for Ralph than they did for me. From that moment on, my goal was to overthrow Ralph and become the leader instead. “I’m chief then,” Ralph said. The group of boys applauded. Even the choir applauded. Inside I was jealous of Ralph, on the outside I acted as I supported Ralph. I needed to find a way to overthrow him and become the leader just like I am supposed to be. I will first support Ralph, but then later, I will only focus on playing and hunting that all the kids will want me to be their leader. Who wants a person who doesn’t want any fun to be their leader? “The choir belongs to you of course,” Ralph said politely. I smiled, I was jealous of him. For I should have been leader not him. At least, I am still the leader of the choir. “The choir will be hunters. All right choir, take of your togs,” I said. “Okay boys. Me, Jack, and…. Simon will explore the island. The rest of you will stay where you are,” said Ralph

True leadership is represented by standing up for the greater good of a group without selfishness and ignorance towards others. The story The Lord of The Flies by William Golding demonstrates a constant struggle for power and leadership between Jack, Piggy, and Ralph. The malicious actions that result draw out specific aspects of leadership from each boy. Apart from Jack and his aggressive attitude toward others or Piggy with the lack of respect he receives from the others, Ralph 's rational thinking is the trait, that as a leader, trumps the others and clearly shows how his endless efforts for the greater good of the boys make him the distinct leader.…

However, under Ralph’s leadership, the group of kids is uninterested in their work. Unlike the amused hunters in Jack’s group, Ralph’s group of boys would, “keep running off…they’re off bathing, or eating, or playing…they work for five minutes, then wander or go hunting” (63). Ralph’s control over his people is weak because they lack interest in what he does. The littluns would rather fulfill their own desires of bathing, eating, and playing than work for Ralph. Since Ralph’s group of boys are inefficient at completing certain tasks, it shows how his leadership style is not as effective compared to Jack’s leadership style.…

In Lord of the Flies, Ralph is forced to lead the group. Ralph acts as the “parent” in many situations during their stay on the island, one being when Ralph and Jack disagree about whether or not Jack and his hunters need to help build huts. Eventually Ralph says, “‘You’ve noticed, haven’t you? They dream.…

People say never judge a book by its cover, but in reality one should not judge a book by its movie. The fiction novel, Lord of the Flies, by William Golding is about a group of schoolboys who were in a plane crash in the time of World War 2 and were alone without adults. The book represents the evil savage side of the civilized. The movie in 1990, Lord of the Flies, directed by Harry Hook represents the same idea. However, some concepts and characters are portrayed differently, which does in fact change important concepts of the story.…
