“It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change” (Darwin). How does one survive all the obstacle they face in life? Obstacles such as not having a job to pay the bills, stress from school, or even a fight one has with a friend or a loved one. What does it take to not only survive but thrive through the highs and lows of life? With purpose, tenacity, and adaptability anyone can have the ability to survive any obstacle in life.
Knowing one's purpose in life can help anyone overcome and survive any obstacle in life. In the book The Lord Of The Flies by William Golding, the boys find purpose in the fire by making sure it is lit everyday, with hope that the smoke will be seen and they will be rescued. Ralph says to the group, "The fire is the most important thing on the island. How can we ever be rescued except by luck, if we don’t keep a fire going? Don’t you understand? Can’t you see we ought to—ought to die before we let the fire out?" (Golding 31). The boy's purpose was to make sure that there was a fire going everyday in order to get saved. In

In the online poverty simulation we noticed that people go through many challenges, but for one to push through it they need to be able to adapt to it. In the poverty simulation, one goes through the challenges that everyday people face, like a survivor, one needs to be able to adapt to their surroundings and circumstances to be able to overcome any situation. With a blink of an eye a good situation can turn horribly wrong, and to be able to adapt to that will help one overcome that situation instead of being stuck in quicksand and not being able to fix it.
