Have you ever imagined what it would be like to get lost in a island with just some strangers? You, probably don’t but there was a book I read in english named “The Lord Of the Flies” by William Golding. It talked about 6 boys how they get into a plane crash on a island and then meet with each other and try to survive and protect one another. Another thing is that for this book there was tons of criticism which included the author and negativity about the book. One of the article for criticism was “Lord Of the Flies” by Virginia Tiger, talked about the criticism of the book and little bit about the author. The other criticism was “The Metaphor of Darkness: Lord of the Flies” by Leighton Hodson, which also talked about the author and book. Surviving …show more content…
Trying to survive in a jungle is really hard but surviving in a empty island with bunch of strangers that's even impossible. The author states “I gave you food”, said Jack, “and my hunters will protect you from the beast, who will join my tribe?” (Golding 150). This quote or jack is trying to say that after a successful hunting by jack he makes his mark of moving Ralph’s leadership. Jack used the threat of the beast as a chance to manipulate others into giving him the powers and staying with him would make them safe and secure, and nothing would happen. I think the way Jack is handling things is wrong but at the same times it's hard to find evidence which proves that he's a bad guy. Over to the criticism article named “Lord Of the Flies” by Virginia Tiger, talked about the criticism of the book and little bit about the author. There’s always some people which they don’t like the author or the idea of the story and it always creates a issue. The author states I said to Ann [Golding] in about 1953, 'Wouldn't it be a good idea to write a book about real boys on an island, showing what a mess they'd make?' She said, 'That is a good idea!' So I sat down and wrote it. (Tiger) It basically means that the writer that was working with William Golding believed that it would be a bad thing to write a book about the boys lost in a unknown

What gives jack power is that he has most of the boys and ralph only has two on his side, and that can be kind of intimidating because they can steal things from ralph and ralph cant do nothing because he can end up killed. Jack is a pretty good manipulator because he made all of the boys who are stuck on the island go on his team because he is saying that he’ll give them food and shelter and ect. and i think that 's why most of them went also because jack called ralph a wimp because he doesn 't wanna hunt and can make everyone turn against each other, but not good enough to be a good leader on the…

Jack is able to obtain his power by manipulating his tribe with their fear of the beast, but since their previous leader, Ralph, says there is no beast, Jack tries to dethrone him by using his control over the tribe to make himself look superior. He does this by making Ralph look like the antagonist in front of the boys “‘- I apologize’. The buzz from the hunters was one of admiration at this handsome behavior. Clearly they were of the opinion that Jack had done the decent thing, had put himself in the right by his generous apology and Ralph, obscurely in the wrong.” (72).…

Golding created a story where a large group of British boys crash land on an island and are stranded. In the beginning, the boys try to stay civilized by selecting a leader and following that leader and a direct set of rules. Ralph one of two-man characters was chosen as leader. His rival Jack resented him for this and throughout the novel, the two groups diverged and Jacks group especially began to lose a civilized state of mind and moved towards savagery.…

Before I even began reading Lord of the Flies, written by William Golding, I had already chosen which essay prompt would be of the most interest for me to write. While a few of the other given options were quite tempting, I finally decided on the topic that spoke to me the most, and being that I’m planning a future in law enforcement, I thought this one was perfect! This book is most likely one of the best suited to display the importance of authority, it’s message spoken very clearly to the reader. In this novel, you see the depiction of three different forms of societal living; their government-run home-life, and then of course, the two attempted rules under Ralph and Jack.…
