Lorax Movie Essay

The Lorax movie is more entertaining than The Lorax book. The writers of the Lorax movie added many details to the plot that create more of an entertaining story. Both the book and the movie share many similarities and differences. In both, the Lorax is a creature that is the voice for the trees and the animals. They both also show how it is important not to harm the forest. The book took place in a lifeless deserted wilderness from beginning to end. The movie began inside the concrete walls of a modern town known as Thneedville. Thneedville is a town with fake trees and very low air quality. It is basically ruled by Mr. O’Hare, a ruthless business man who sales clean air, but outside the walls were miles of lifeless forest. In the book an …show more content…
It can be assumed that he simply went home and planted it. In contrast to the book, after receiving the last Truffula seed, Ted faced many obstacles before he would be able to plant the seed. In order for Ted to plant the last Truffula seed in Thneedville, he would have to get past Mr. O’Hare. Due to Mr. O’Hare’s influence in the town, getting past him was not easy. After an intense chase through the town, Thneedville, Ted was able to plant the Truffula tree in the town square. When the Thneedvilleans saw their need for Truffula trees, they got rid of Mr. O’Hare. As the tree grew, it reproduced and the Truffula trees began to repopulate Thneedville. As the trees came back, the animals began to come back and the lifeless forest land began to be filled with …show more content…
To me the book seemed to be dull and unexciting. The book did not bring the characters to life as well as the movie did. In the movie I found that by drawing more emphasis to Ted’s life, the movie was more exciting. Some people may believe by putting extra emphasis on Ted’s life, in the movie, the story of the Lorax and the Once-ler becomes less important than it was in the book. I felt that by adding the conflict Ted faced with Mr. O Hare and by adding his crush on Audrey, the movie was more capable of drawing the audience’s attention. Both the book and the movie presented the same plot of not harming the atmosphere. The book used the story of how the Once-ler cut down all the trees and forced the animals to find new homes, to present the effects of harming the forest. The movie used the story of the Once-ler and the Lorax as well, to portray the dangers of harming the forest. The movie was also able to use digital images to display on a television how bad a lifeless forest is. The best way to view The Lorax is to watch the

In the eyes of many individuals, The Lorax may stand as nothing but a simple children’s story. Penned by Doctor Seuss, the tale chronicles the life of The Lorax, the fluffy friend that speaks for the trees, and the money-hungry man working against him, the Onceler. Though it may seem naive and childish, The Lorax does a fantastic job of warning readers of the degradation of the environment and its eventual ultimate destruction. This short yet grand tale is reminiscent of the fall of Easter Island. Though the inhabitants were not aware of the impact they could have like Dr. Seuss may have, they continuously utilized more resources than their environment could handle.…
