The Long Careers Project (1987-1992) grew directly from the ground breaking work of The Aging Society Project (1985-86) and received major funding from Carnegie Corporation of New York.
I was entertainment and live event coordinator for stages along the route of the June 12 1982 March and Rally for Peace and Disarmament.
I was the New York Shakespeare Festival press representative and coordinator for Pen America events at the Public Theater, the protests against uncontrolled development in the theater district that resulted in the Great Theater Massacre of 1982, as well as Joseph Papp’s weekly radio spots on wide ranging issues from theater to national politics.
Beginning in January 1981, I created and produced a series of “Counter Inaugural Balls” – participatory, site-specific theater events held on an irregular four year cycle ever since, with the last held in 2004. This has been a volunteer position.
