The Long Journey - Reflection
The Long Journey is a satire on the historical event, The Long March which happened in China from 1934 to 1935 when the communists of China walked approximately 10,000km to find a new base north of China. I also wanted the audience to understand sacrifices will be made, but if it is for the better, it is worth it.
Symbolism was used throughout the story to symbolise all the aspects of the Long March with different characters and events, but the historical event I chose is not well known to many people, so it was not recognised. The queen ant symbolised Mao Ze Dong, who led the communist on the long Journey. The communists of the China were represented by ants because ants are very hardworking creatures and they dedicate their lives to helping the colony which is what the …show more content…
I believed it worked well to describe the aspects that inspire Ella to keep going.
I hesitated a few times during the presentation as I did not entirely memorise my allegory, but overall, I was satisfied with the delivery of my allegory. However, next time I would like to project my voice more and add more emotion into my allegory reading to further connect with the audience.
If the allegory to be rewritten, I would incorporate more similes and metaphors to create a further description of the characters, settings and events that the character had to go through. The only simile I included in my allegory was "Each raindrop was like a small bomb that could kill an ant instantly." but I worked well to describe the dangers of the rain posed to the ants. I would also choose a different historical event that would have been easier for the audience to understand through my allegorical
