Whenever it comes to dressing, I will just fit into my desired clothing styles because it comforts me a lot. Since school days, I was so annoyed with the school uniforms given until I entered my secondary level of studies. This is because I was a prefect at my school and I just loved the uniform. I started to like formal attires more than casual outfits since I became a prefect. Most of them prefer wearing casual outfits rather than fitting in a formal attire. This is because they are more concerned on how they look instead of appearing in a formal way. Besides, I also prefer to wear school uniforms because I don’t have to burden my parents often to buy different types of outfits. I don’t really have to spend much time looking for clothes that match me or something appropriate for me to wear. Then I found that there are also cheaper formal attires to buy and once I bought it, I am pretty sure that I can wear it for a long time. For example, what if those kids that are wearing what someone might say “plain clothes” (T-shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes), actually just decided they want to be comfy and relaxed that day, or they can't afford expensive clothing, or they’re saving money for something big and not wasting money on random clothes, or this kind of clothing is just “not their thing”? In educational institutes, students are required to follow the prescribed dress codes even in university-level education. Because Thailand is one of the few countries in the world that still abide by this rule (Williams, n.d.), questions have been raised to whether or not this compulsion is necessary. Whereas some people view it as one of Thailand’s unique traditions and a symbol of honour, others see it as an outdated and domineering regulation (Pooamorn, 2013). The former idea is that of conservatives, which argues that uniforms remind students of their duty. It indicates that by wearing a uniform that represents the institution, students will be reminded of the honour and respect for the education that they have been so opportune to receive (Saiyasombut, 2013).…

Then I have to obey the rules that wear the uniforms every Monday to Friday. However, after a period time, I found that it is reasonable for students to wear the uniforms because everyone wears same clothes will make them focus on study. For example, if everyone wears different styles of clothes, it prevents students from focusing on study. Although I still do not think this is the best method for students, but for now this is the most effective way that will reinforce the student status in school. In my opinion, wearing the uniform for students is contributed to the healthy functioning of the school, which will be able to manage students for school and society because people could easily distinguish who is a student and give them a necessary protection.…

Personal appearance Article 13 of the UNCRC stipulates that children have the right to freedom of expression (United Nations, 1989). “The child shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of the child's choice.” As we can see article 13 stipulates that the child has a right to freedom of expression and that the right can be expressed through any 'other media of child's choice' ('other' here means something other than 'orally', 'in writing' or in the 'form of art)'. So it can be argued that the article includes the right to express oneself in the form of dress. Dress functions as a means of communication as adolescents assign meaning to dress.…

As the saying goes, rather than paying our time looking at our wardrobe, we can literally put on the school uniform to save time, dressed formally just like their peers.
