The Locker-Personal Narrative

Pain shot through the left side of my head caused by my skull being banged into the locker. A groan escaped my throat; thoughts raced around my head somehow faster than my heart beating rapidly in my chest. I never thought I would be in such a situation.

I was yanked from the locker, my body being slammed back into the cold metal again, this time my back was against it. I opened my eyes, in my peripheral vision was a boy with the build of a 30-year-old weightlifter towering above my small frame. The scent of his overbearing cologne filled my nose making me want to gag. My eyes became watery at the smell; my rapid heartbeat already making it hard for me to breath. Without looking at his face I could already tell that the person tormenting me was the school’s star linebacker,

Looking over his shoulder, I saw a girl with auburn hair wearing an outfit that looked overpriced. This was his girlfriend Avery Cole, the parasite that infested the halls of our high school. Her eyes were crinkled like she was happy about my predicament. Like she was entertained by it. Looking over Morgan’s other shoulder, I see a girl pale with freckles. This was Breena Stigler. I looked into her eyes, those hurt, desperate eyes that screamed mercy. Why was she screaming for mercy? I should be the one screaming for mercy, yet I wasn’t. I then glared into the eyes of Forest. His eyes were merciless. He looked like he wanted to take my life. A sudden wash of fear came over me. He always told me he was going to kill me and I always thought he was bluffing. But today I sure that he would squeeze the life out of me. I quickly scan around to find someone in the crowd to help me. With their phones out and their hysterical laughs, I quickly realized no one would help me. Not even Breena with eyes now filled with

I stood up, and a throbbing pain surged throughout my body as I slung my backpack over my swollen right shoulder and limped my way home. As I was walking through the tall wheat field on my way from school, I saw the back of a tall, white, muscular guy. “No, it can’t be…” I thought to myself, but that orange ugly bowl cut told me that it really was him. He turned around, slowly lifted his right arm in a 90 degree angle, and I saw the only comfort I had in my life missing its left leg. I covered my mouth with tears streaming down my bloodied face, my heart burning with anger.…

He was sitting on the ground about a metre in front of me, I wondered how long he had been there for. Staring at me with a kind of twisted smile plastered on his face, the way his lips curled up was almost unnatural, accentuating his bloodshot eyes and waxy, pale skin. He was dressed expensively in designer jeans and a soft leather jacket. I always questioned how he afforded such luxuries.…

Like many movies I have seen before “The Hurt Locker” begins with a quote. The quote states simply “War is a Drug.” Although not true for everyone, some find it almost impossible to return home and begin their normal lives once again. For Staff Sergeant William James played by Jeremy Renner, war was a drug, and it was as if he found pleasure while under enemy fire and defusing bombs. There are two main reasons why “The Hurt Locker” is such a standout film.…
