Every aspiring chef may be overwhelmed with the thousands of job opportunities that are available. However, each job position requires and offers multiple elements. As expected many culinary students continue to work in a restaurant, cafe, bakery etc. Not everyone enjoys the crowded fast-paced environment that is often involved in this career path. This could be seen as a set back in this occupation. “There are just over 5,000 personal chef businesses” (Fowler). There are equally if not more opportunities for being a personal chef as there are a commercial restaurant chef. This position may be more favorable today rather than a traditional chef position. Mostly when working as a personal/private chef, pay all depends on clients and who the person is working for. These chef’s entire job components revolve around who and how many people they may and are willing to work for. A personal/private chef position falls into the category of a head chef and can earn a median of $41,500 per year (Personal Chef VS. Private Chef; What’s the Difference?). This is not always the case as a certain salary is not guaranteed. Income may vary depending on if the individual is attending to more than one patron. Considering this the employee is open to numerous offers and if working for multiple sources can be exposed to earning an extensive range of pay. This may add to a total of the median salary or greater if the opportunity arises. Remuneration can be influenced by any specific needs or demands from the employer. Congeneric to any other job position not pertaining to this specific field of work, a skill level may also impact the arbitration of salary depending on what abilities are needed, especially if the specific need is uncommon amongst individuals involved in the field. When distinct needs are requested in can be a hassle when working in a rapid environment such as a restaurant.
