A majority of my generation has seen “The Lion King” multiple times during their childhood years. Unfortunately I haven’t watched it, so I viewed this movie with an open mind and empty slate. Seeing as I had never watched it before, I had only the vaguest idea of what it would be like. I thought it was going to consist of the stereotypical character scheme of a protagonist who faces his villain, defeats the enemy, and wins some sort of award at the end. I never considered that it would go further into depth than that. “The Lion King” illuminates the art of a true epic. It tells you a story about a unique hero whose story is told through exciting events or adventures that they’ve been through.

As the prince grows up, it’s obvious that not everyone enjoys his company, especially his sly and calculating uncle. Scar isn’t pleased with his nephew’s birth, as he has been demoted to third in line for the crown, so he schemes up a plan to get rid of Simba. Taking advantage of his naïve and slightly arrogant nature, Scar taunts him into going to the forbidden elephant graveyard. Driven by his curiosity, he brings his best friend Nala along to explore the area. At the graveyard, they are met by 3 hyenas who try and kill them, but are luckily saved by Musafa. Unfortunately Scar doesn’t give up just yet. He lures young Simba into a gorge while the hyenas create a wildebeest stampede on a nearby hill, which traps Simba inside the canyon. Alerted by Scar, Mufasa races to rescue his son from the stampede. He was able to save his son from death but was betrayed by his brother when Scar flung Mufasa off of the cliff and into the stampede, crushing him to death. Scar convinces Simba that he was responsible for his father's death and due to a guilty conscience, flees into exile. Later on, somewhere in a distant desert, Simba is found unconscious by Timon and Pumbaa, a duo who
