I consider my mom, my dad, and my two sisters as my main family. They mean the world to me, I don’t know what I would do without them. They are the most important people in my life. My family is like the Safari. My little sister is a monkey, she is energetic, loud, and funny. My other sister is a gorilla, she fights for what she believes in and she is noble. My mom is a lion, she is strong, a leader, and protective. My dad is the Nile crocodile, he is brave and dependable. On Saturdays is our family quality time. The day normally starts off with my mom cooking us a delicious breakfast. I love waking up Saturday morning to the smell of warm buttery pancakes; my mom is flipping the pancakes as she is listening to Juan Gabriel (a Mexican singer). The parents were relocated to neighboring countries for work, while their children were left behind to make their way to Europe or to a secure country for protection. A separation like this causes a breakdown in a family and impacts the children physically and mentally. Another example of how families are divided is by deportation. Deportation has a massive impact on families, more than 100,000 of non-citizen parents are deported and are torn from their families. Deportation leaves children with unauthorized parents in foster care. Single mothers that their husbands have been deported struggle economically in raising their children. World War II also had an effect in families because of the absence of fathers. Multiple women were working in factories and would leave their children in the care of others.
