Steven Taylor, had a very strong fatherly voice that fit the part of Simba’s father perfectly. He played the part as if Cayen Martin, young Simba, was his actual son and he was trying to teach him life lessons. His emotional range was amazing, from worry to anger, he played the part very convincingly.
Mufasa’s conniving brother Scar who was played by Gareth Saxe was also cast extremely well. He sounded very similar to the movie character that he portrayed. Scar was played very dark, sarcastic, and somewhat incompetent yet laissez-faire at times.
Anyone that has seen The Lion King the movie knows the emotional range that is basically the same in the play. There were unexpected jokes sprinkled throughout that were more relevant to newer Disney movies. Zazu, the red-billed hornbill bird was the largest source of comedy and was extremely sarcastic towards most of the cast.
When Simba disobeys his father Mufasa, Mufasa explains his fatherly fear of losing his son. It is a very touching scene that shows the love of a father towards his
