Memorializing individuals and events creates a remembrance to the past, and if the event is significant enough, monuments are created. However, these structures take time and the appropriate materials to last and be enjoyed. For example, the Lincoln Memorial was sculpted from marble to preserve and observe the legacy of Abraham Lincoln. A person must demonstrate greatness and accomplishment while an event must ultimately demonstrate remembrance to be recognized as a memorial.
