The Lightning Thief, written by Rick Riordan, is the first book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. This book is a fantasy-adventure novel, which is based on Greek mythology. It's the first young adult novel written by Rick Riordan, who is known by his Percy Jackson novel series. The Lightning Thief is the first book of the Percy Jackson's novel, which published in June, 2005 after it was sold at auction to Miramax Books. It appeared on The New York Times children's Bestseller list and soon afterward it was adapted into a film named Percy Jackson & the Olympians The lightning Thief which was released on February 12,2010.This book contains various of genres such as the Hero Jurney / Monomyth and fantasy.

The book is written by Rick Riordan and it is about a boy living in a fantasy world in the present time and facing the truth about the existence of the old Greek gods. The most prominent genre of the book is mythology. Mythopoeia is the act of writing a mythology. We can name C. S. Lewis, H. P. Lovecraft and Lord Dunsany as the most notable and famous mythology writers. The word mythopoeia was first used by J. R. R. Tolkien in the 1930s. The Authors in mythology genre integrate traditional mythology themes and archetypes into fiction. As similar to fantasy worlds or fictional universes mythology aim to evoke the detailed worlds of well-ordered histories, geographies and laws of nature. Mythology is defined as a genre in which the old Greek gods, such as Zeus, Poseidon and Hades are present and part of the story. It often includes heroes and how their life began as in low status and then is elevated to high status through a good deed. Mythology is a traditional or legendary story, usually concerning some being or hero or even, with or without a determinable basis of fact or a natural explanation, which is concerned with demigods, and explains some practice or natural phenomenon. First time Percy was exposed to magic was when he first indirectly used his power to stop his classmate, Nancy, bully his friend. Later he was handed a magical pen to defend himself against one of his teachers who was actually a Fury trying to kill Percy. As soon as Percy uncapped the pen, it turned into a sword and he used it to destroy the Fury in self defense. His entire journey was a fight against magical creatures and to proceed his way through every challenge that Hades put for him to uncover the truth about the true identity of the Lightning bolt thief to stop Zeus from declaring a war which could destroy everything. This is exactly the evidence that proves the book is capable of being a fantasy
