The Lightning Thief
“ Because where his feet used to be, there were no feet. There were cloven hooves “(43). This is one out of many unusual quotes found in The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. In this book the characters are in an academy, a private school for troubled and disobedient kids in the past.
Our hero is known as Percy/Perseus Jackson throughout the story and is considered a troubled student that has been kicked out of many schools. He is twelve years old and is the son of the Sea God, Poseidon. His mother was taken by Hades, the God of the Underworld. He was assigned a dangerous quest to find the lightning bolt, Zeus greatest weapon, before the summer solstice. He also convinced himself to find his mother from the Underworld

But in the river he felt a lone because he was stranded and couldn't find a way out to the end but through the whole book it was kind of like Matt scared and alone. Another one is among the hidden in that book he’s an outcast because you can only have two children but they had three so he can’t do anything but stay inside because if they find him the parents will get in trouble. Just like Matt he’s a clone nobody wants to be around a clone because…

People do not get to pick the color of their skin, yet skin color has caused great hardship for people in the world. In the south they still had the confederate flag above the American flag showing that whites are always ranked above blacks. Whites continually tried to make it unfair to blacks when attending schools, stores, and other public places. The novel Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred D. Taylor, is an excellent example of historical fiction based on the fight for civil rights because of its realistic portrayal of those times. One hardship blacks suffered was protecting their families from white dominance.…
