In my whole life, it never ran through my head, that I would fall in love with running and especially that I would be considered a valuable asset for the team. When I started in freshman year, the only reason I joined was because I heard that involvement during high school would make your college application stand out. I started out my freshman year slower than anyone, my average mile time would be 10 to 11 minutes which for any knowledgeable runner is considered a poor time for anyone who would like to become a varsity all-star. I improved greatly my sophomore year was able to make the varsity team which made me extremely proud. Throughout my childhood, I was always on the look to discover that secret talent, that everyone seemed to find in their prepubescent selves. Everyone would suddenly discover that they knew how to sing, dance or even just hold a nice conversation with a stranger. Running helped me break away from my cocoon and transform into a butterfly. Running had officially transformed my life for the better because it suddenly felt like I had found my purpose in life. I never thought that it was possible for you to attain certain abilities through hard work, I would just believe that you would either be born with or without a talent which is why I rarely tried. Therefore, running gave me an eye-opening experience because although everyone might say any one can be a runner, running is easy, not everyone has the determination and commitment to become a successful runner. It all depends on your character and mental strength as your mind controls your body, thus requiring for you to always give that 110%. Being part of the cross country team helped me realize how valuable teamwork and dedication could make any losing team into a winning team any day. I never thought that I would foster a second family along with my coach slowly becoming my second mom. I learned that by being in a team you committed to always being there for your teammates because no matter what happened at the end, we knew we
