The Life of Milton Hershey A man who dropped out of school in fourth grade and failed two businesses does not seem like a man who would be so successful. He learned from previous mistakes and never gave up. This man was Milton Hershey and he is the founder of The Hershey Chocolate Company.
Milton Hershey was born in Derry Township, PA on September 13, 1857 to the parents Snavely and Veronica Hershey. Milton also had a younger sister named Serina but at the age of four passed away. She died of scarlet fever, a bacterial illness that develops in some people who have strep throat. Milton grew up wanting to be a Confectioner and that he became.
