She was not effected by World War II as much Grandpa was. While living on the farm, she was taught to work hard. She manually managed the horse team with her father in the fields. It was said that she could manage a team of horses as well as any man, even though she was very small and soft spoken. She had a reputation in the region for being good at breaking horses. In those days’, women would wear a dress to do everything and never would think to wear pants unless they were trying to disguise themselves as a man to help in the war as messengers.
My Great Grandpa Harry Eadie was a Gospel preacher. He was known in the area for asking people if he could pitch a tent on their property to preach the gospel, sometimes for weeks at a time. On one occasion, it just so happened to be on my grandma Eadie’s parents’ farm. Grandpa accompanied his dad many times on these trips. Grandpa and grandma still had not met each other
