The Definition Of Friendship

Improved Essays
Friendship is everything, as humans we strive for relationships and build friendships. A friendship with who is now my best bud started way back in September 2011. Jack was the new kid in Mrs. Hudwalker’s homeroom, but this is not when we became friends. It was late September and I was feeling very tense about the day ahead of me. My mom was forcing me to go to her school reunion and what do you know, My mom went to school with Jacks mom. I was humiliated that my mom was more or less forcing a playdate, “Mom I’m thirteen I don’t need you to set up playdates for me. I’m completely capable of doing it myself.”. My mother and I arrived at the Picnic before my new “Friend” Jack. When Jack arrived I actually got a look of how tall he was compared …show more content…
Anytime you are able to get away from the county and your school with some friends is a great time. During spring break of our freshman year we made another trip out to our cabin in Piedmont. The brutally cold water eliminated swimming and fishing from our stuff to do while at the cabin. Jack and I were accompanied by our mutual friend Mackenzie Kersting. The three of us made the best of our trip. Because of the lack of stuff to do we had to improvise a lot of activities. Luckily I came prepared with a ton of fireworks, more then enough to last the trip. Jack made a video of the whole weekend, all of the joking around and fireworks, we can still sit around and laugh at the fun weekend. Mother Nature chased us out of Piedmont with immense amounts of snow. This snow may have kicked us out of our camping trip but it did not ruin the fun Jack and I would have over our spring vacation. Once we made it back into St.Louis I went over to Jacks. Unlike most people we went outside and made an igloo. I felt as if I was an eskimo, in Antarctica building my home with my best bud. This igloo was pretty tight, it didn 't have multiple rooms or anything but my fifteen year old body could fit inside. Even though my Spring break may have felt like a Winter break it was still great to spend time with my best …show more content…
To start off our Summer vacation Jack and I head up to Hannibal Missouri with my father. We decided to celebrate the end of the school year by going shooting some of my families firearms. Bing, Bing, Bing. Because this is Jacks first time shooting a firearm we decided to warm up for the celebration with the consistent fire of my .22 long rifle. After we shoot this we take a step up to my family revolver, seeing Jack with an old time double action revolver makes him look like a cowboy from the Wild West. After we warmed up it was time to start off the summer with a bang, it was time to break out 12 gauge shotgun, this was interesting. Once Jack and I got home from our Summer kick off we head back to Saint Louis. When we were getting into the Summer heat we really realized how hot the Summer really was. Jack and I both had full heads of long hair and decided to go get haircuts together, this was a big change for us because it seems like we 've always had long hair. With our short hair, looking like totally different people we spent more time outdoors. Jack and I make another trip to Piedmont. This trip is the most recent to me and was my favorite trip. We would wake up early to go to the river and swim until our shoulders were stained brown. While Jack and I were fishing the river we noticed snakes near our fishing spot. We did not think anything of the snakes as we watched bluegill and bass

Summary of Evans Lake Day 1 On the bus ride to Evans Lake was very fun because I was sitting beside one of my best friends Casey. On the bus ride we had lots of snacks including cookies, chips and a little bit of candy, we watched the Minions movie, and we played card games. When we arrived, we played a game called knuckle ball, what was very unique about playing it at Evans Lake was they had a arena built for it, the game was very fun. After we were done with that we went rock climbing, the rock climbing was made from real rocks, that was something I had never seen before, but it was extra fun.…

The Elements Paying Tribute to Friendship is a sculpture created by Louis-Simon Boizot in the year 1783. The sculpture is made out of “marble presenting the depth of carving by producing space and sense of physical presence” (Boizot). There are four figurines that symbolize the “elements of clouds, flames, waves, and earth” (Boizot). The four elements are paying tribute to lady named Friendship who is “standing on a platform with her arm wrapped around an elm tree stump wearing a wreath of myrtle” (Boizot). Cybele is the representation of “earth, are leaning over two lions that are both kneeling in front of Friendship” (Boizot).…

Over summer I went with some friends to the Johnson Shut-ins in Missouri. It was the first time I went camping in years and it was one of the coolest trips I’ve ever been on. It started with the drive which was about two and a half hours through isolated roads which eventually got kind of creepy because we were in the middle of nowhere, every house had confederate flags posted, and we were running out of gas. We finally found the place and found our campground and we wanted to find out what the shut-ins were exactly. It was on the other side of the campground…

Colton Ender 6th October Journal 10/18/2016 Over the weekend I had to do yardwork, like rake pinecones and dump them into our neighbors burn pile. It was very boring definitely when my brother barely helped at all. My brother just rode the four wheeler around since my parents weren’t home and I had to rake all the pinecones into garbage cans. Over the weekend we also took our camper down to Cooler Valley RV to get it winterized.…

Little did I know that this trip would soon turn south very, very, fast.…

Human behavior often seems mysterious and hard to predict, and despite this, it follows rules and patterns that can be observed and studied. One such pattern is known as Dunbar’s number. Dunbar’s number is, in fact, a series of numbers that represent the number of friends a typical person has that fit varying categories of familiarity and closeness. Maria Konnikova writes about Robin Dunbar’s research in her essay “The Limits of Friendship.” Robin Marantz Henig discusses the current plight of American millennials trying and failing to adjust to the world fast enough and become adults in “What is it About 20-Somethings?”…

Moving here from North Carolina when I was four changed my life completely, I was away from my family who I lived with my whole life, thrown into a school with a bunch of kids who lived here since they were born and told to “make friends.” This changed the next 13 years of my life to something I can never picture not having. The first four years, both my parents had full time jobs and my grandma helped raise me a lot, she taught me so many manners and how to behave, she even ended up living across the street from me for 2 of those years, they were rough for my parents, new baby, just moving, having to find jobs, making friends, and getting food on the table for me. Thats where my amazing family came in, with bringing home cooked meals…

Christmas break in my opinion is probably the second best brake that we have throughout our school year. The main thing I like about Christmas break is how long it is. But even though I like how long we are off school it's almost like we don't have a break because basketball takes over. We get a few days off but the rest of the days are hitting the gym early in the mornings for two to three hours a day. The days I have is the best thing in the world because I get to relax and do something fun for once.…
