Derek Adlersfugel was a German photographer that lived in Berlin. He always took the family pictures with his camera, 1919 Kodak Black Box Brownie 2 Model E. He saved up Euros from delivering newspapers around neighborhoods. He wasn’t from a wealthy family, He valued everything he got. His clothes were a ripped in places, he always wore his grandfather’s green felt hat with feather. He was a dark haired, scrawny man. He was in his early 20’s, ready for whatever life could throw at him. He took pride in his work, always doing everything the best he could do. He always snuck into places he wasn’t allowed to be in. Like he would always sneak into art galleries to see all the images that his idols photographed. He was more of a street smart person, he always knew how to persuade someone to do something wrong. He persuaded some women to act like her purse got stolen so he could sneak into over a gate to get pictures of an army base. When Derek heard of the Treaty of Versailles was going to happen, he knew he had to be there. It was June 26th, 1919 and the treaty was going to be signed on the 28th. He …show more content…
He was taking photos of the tower, when a little kid yelled, “GERMAN!” Derek was tackled by a police officer. “I am not a German, I am from London”, Derek said with a British accent. Derek knew he was lying, but he had to get to Versailles to get those photos. The police officer got off of Derek and said sorry sir. The kid asks, “Why were you getting off the train from Germany then?” “Derek said that his friend captured by the Germans and had to get him home back in Lille.” The Officer and the kid walked away and Derek kept moving. Derek decided that he didn’t want to walk to Versailles. Derek saw that a man go into the bank, and left his car running. Derek quickly ran to the car and drove off.
