Japan’s glorious victory as the first Eastern nation to win against a Europeans power established Japan as a threatening and rising competitor in the pool of Western powers. Japan’s political reform allowed Japan to erase its weak status and get acknowledged as a momentous…
Australian Labor Party is the oldest political organization in the political history of Australia, since it was formed in the 1890s and it had a representative in the first federal government that was elected in 1901. The major purpose of its formation was the early trade unions that existed by that period, and since then, it has maintained a close relationship with the trade unions in Australia. The party’s national platform provides the supporters and members with a clear outline of labor’s values, beliefs and government programs. Generally, the party’s platform has been progressive since its formation, this is in terms of political, economic and social progression, which has not been to the liking of the known conservative electorate. However,…
New England Federalists did not have any reason to trust the decisions of the Democratic-Republican party along with Thomas Jefferson or James Madison. In the years spanning from 1805-1812 the presidents belonging to this party created and passed acts and treaties that repeatedly failed and hurt the New England economy. The first plan President Jefferson tried was planned to counteract the trade restriction Britain was imposing on the United States. The United States Congress passed the Non-Importation Acts in 1806. This forbid Britain to import specific manufactured goods to the United States (Malone, Dumas).…
They left Independence, Missouri, in May 1846. The party followed the Oregon Trail until they reached Fort Bridger. There they met Lansford Hastings. Lansford Hastings claimed his route - known as Hastings Cutoff - would remove 300 miles to their way to California. This cut-off meant crossing the Wasatch Mountains, round the Great Salt Lake to the south, then due west to the Humboldt River in Nevada, before returning to the main trail from Fort Hall.…

On January 8, 1828, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison became the founders of the newly formed Democratic Party. Over time the Democratic Party has become one of the most popular political parties in the United States of America. Thomas Jefferson bestowed the ideas of the natural rights upon the Democratic Party and till this day the party still supports those rights. Amongst all political parties, the Democratic Party best upholds the Declaration principles of life, liberty, and property/pursuit of happiness based upon their positions on issues such as the right to bear arms, pro-choice, and same-sex marriage. A comparison between the Republican Party and the Democratic Party will show that the Democratic Party is more likely to push for a separation of church and state, which best protects the citizens while still being able to encourage religion.…
DBQ: How Political Parties Developed Political parties are organization of people which seek to achieve goals that can help certain people in a particular region. Political parties are developed because of the expansion of the United States. With more people with new ideas and political belief, people can now state their own opinion and can give the people a chance to be heard fairly and equally. Political parties has been around since the early and mid-1700s. Being one of the first political parties of the United States were the Whigs party.…
Root canals, used-car salesmen, lice, cockroaches, and brussels sprouts; these seemingly unrelated items do have one common component: Americans view these more favorably than Congress, according to a 2013 poll. Upon hearing this, I was awestruck as to how Congress had stooped so low that only 8% of Americans approve of the lawmaking body that represents us. I quickly learned the reason why: the intense hatred that both parties in Congress have for each other and a complete unwillingness to work together. Reflecting on this, I realized, “Why would I be a member of either party and associate with those creating problems in America?” Instead, I decided to create my own political party, which would work to make America a better place by standing for compromise, fiscal responsibility, and social morality.…
The Liberal Party has been governing Canada for many years. They were able to govern for many years because they used the formula for success, which is the straddling of political center, created under the leadership of Sir Wilfrid Laurier. The liberal party has been successful over the years, having created many governments and gave Canada more than 10 prime ministers. Although it wasn't always this way as in the first few years of confederation the liberal party has little success with beating the conservative party and their prime minster at the time, John A MacDonald. Although, later the Liberals did find success due to the downfall of the Conservative party over the Pacific Scandal.…
“Let us not speak of the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future.” - John F. Kennedy. The United States of America is born as a democracy and a democracy is government runned by the people for the people.…
The Independent American Party was founded on May 16, in 1998 and was inspired by a speech spoken by Ezra T. Benson. The Independent American Party or IAP for short, believe that the constitution was written by men that god spoke to. They want state governments to have more power than the federal government. Examples may be power over the states natural resources and education. National Parks can only be approved by the state not the president and they can chose what they want to teacher in schools.…
The Democratic party is one of the two major parties, the other being the Republican Party. It is a party whose core values and interests have changed over time. Its existence amounts for more than two centuries; the Democratic Party’s history is moderately stable compared to the Republican Party. Its largest following is that of minorities, it supports big government and is associated with liberal social policies. The party fights for civil rights of minorities, organized labour, and progressive reform.…
Federalist Party In the wake of the early beginnings of America, many agendas clamored for attention as to the direction the nation should take, and the Federalist Party played a major part. One of the formidable political parties of its time, Federalist Party ideologies were largely elitist. For Federalists, the defining characteristic was their championship for a stronger central government, with the view that it would lead to a more powerful nation. As a party, Federalists generally frowned upon democracy as they thought it would give the opportunity for poor leadership to arise in states.…
In his book “Listen Liberal or Whatever Happened to the Party of the People” Thomas Frank explores the last century of the Democratic Party in America. Being a liberal himself, Frank gives an insider view to the democratic party and its failures. I commend him for tackling this feat because most people would not be able to do the same about their respective party. I agree with a lot of things that have been brought to light in this book, such as the abandonment of the blue collar middle class for the white collar “professional class”, that the Democratic Party does not practice what it preaches , and that the leadership of the Democratic Party is not bothered by inequality as much as they project to be . These are all things that the Republican…
The Libertarian Party highly values liberty, and idealizes a world where every individual makes his or her own choices for themselves. They have elected Gary Johnson as president and William Weld as vice president. The national debt, war on drugs, and civil liberties are three main issues to the candidate. Gary Johnson strongly believes that excessive spending by the government is one of the greatest threats to national security, legalizing marijuana would create a safer society and an industry that can aid the American economy, and the average American’s civil liberties are being threatened by an overly intrusive government.…
