Personal needs encompass things that aren’t necessary, but are for personal satisfaction. Healthy or organic foods, relaxing getaways, financial freedom, and other things at are pure fun fall into this category (Perreault et al, 2016). This is where Fiji water comes back into pay. Not only can it be used to satisfy a most basic physiologic need, it could also fill a personal need. Fiji water is artesian water that is naturally filtered. To some people this type of water may be the equivalent to a healthy food.

I am currently looking to purchase a hot tub. I have convinced myself it is for my graduation present. I would like the think that the purchase of a hot tub is all about meeting a physiological need of mine, and it in a way is. However, I know it is first and foremost meeting a personal need, but also a social need as well. I was in a wreck a couple months ago, and the wreck messed up my back. I have been to many specialists about it and I go to physical therapy at least 3 days out of the week. Each one of the doctors I have seen has convinced me that a hot tub may relieve some of my pain and help me back, or perhaps I convinced myself of that? I would also like to have it for when friends come over (a social need) and just to relax (a personal need). Jacuzzi had an advertisement that stands out against the rest. In the ad, there is a woman levitating above the hot tub in a relaxed reclined position. The slogan is “Water that moves you” and underneath the tub, it says: “Relax Now,” This ad appealed to my personal needs. Other ads for Jacuzzi and other brands of hot tubs appealed to social and physiological needs as well. However, while I was looking at hot tubs, I saw many other ads that did not appeal to my needs, but would have for someone else. One ad was for Dynasty Spas. In this ad, there was an older gentleman in a hot tub with multiple women around him. The slogan read: “Because you can only fit one woman in a Porsche.” For a man that is looking for that, I could see how the ad could not only be seen to fit a physiological need, but also a personal
