The Cask of Amontillado For my writing assignment, I chose the short story “The Cask of Amontillado” by Edgar Allen Poe. Poe spins a tale of the ultimate deception, which leads Fortunato to his demise. I selected this work for many reasons, it appealed to me, I am a fan of Poe and his ability to twist and turn a readers mind without revealing his shocking endings too soon, and because I wanted to dissect our in class discussion more, because I do not believe Montresor is mentally ill. When we discussed The Cask of Amontillado in class, it seemed that the majority of the class believed that Montresor must have suffered from some psychological disorder to be able to carry out such a heinous act against Fortunato.…

Music, it plays a significant role in films, more than most realise. The film Psycho, an early horror film, has many scenes in which they use sound extraordinarily. Just some of the scenes that are shown in this movie are so iconic. A scene, one that impressively shows , Marion is in the shower and you can see a figure appear in the curtain and the high pitched ringing music kicks on and we know exactly what is going to happen. This scene was so iconic that, thanks to Director Alfred Hitchcock, it totally opened the doors to the importance of music in, not only horror films, but films in general in the future.…
