Planned Parenthood helps a lot of people avoid unintended pregnancies every year with the contraceptives they offer. If there is an unintended pregnancy, Planned Parenthood also offers the option of an abortion. It is the abortion part of Planned Parenthood that brings the negativity towards it. What a lot of people don’t realize is that they also offer other services to the people that come to them, like the contraceptives. When it comes to contraceptives, Planned Parenthood offers a lot of different options and ways to prevent unintended pregnancies. They do suggest condoms, which is the most talked about and popular form of contraception. It is inherently sexist to pass legislation about women 's reproductive system but then not have any laws pertaining to the male body. These are some of the excellent services provided by Planned Parenthood and those who wish to remove Planned Parenthood should look into the importance it plays into maintaining a standard of living in the United States because it certainly has a giant impact. To defund Planned Parenthood is to take away many services that are very useful that do not have to do with abortion, which is the common negative stigmatism of the organization that is constantly talked about by the Republican Party and religious people in general. With the area of cancer prevention, Planned Parenthood is very important. In the United States, cancer is the second leading cause of death, at a rate of over a fifth of all deaths that occur every year, this of course behind heart disease. Cancer screenings are offered at Planned Parenthood, which is important because just detecting cancer early is the best way to fight it.
