The legalization and decriminalization of Marijuana After struggling in my own life with alcohol and drugs like cocaine and ecstasy, I have always had an interest of the history of drug abuse and this country’s war on drugs. I personally believe that Marijuana does not fall into the same category as alcohol or any other drugs. For most of human existence we have used plant remedies as medication, food, and religious ceremonies. Marijuana was first used for its hemp fibers to make clothes and rope “as far back as 7000 B.C.”(ProQuest Staff. "At Issue: Marijuana Legalization." ProQuest LLC. 2015: n.pag. SIRS Issues Researcher. We all know that crack and meth have a far worse outcome on the human body then marijuana. The other side is the scientific side that shows the exact opposite of what most people believe, most believe the only way to ingest the drug is by smoking it personally I don’t think your lungs are ment to inhale in sort of hot ash or smoke. However this is not the only way to consume marijuana; Vaporizer’s heat up marijuana at a much cooler tempter, it allows you to inhale the active ingredients without consuming hot smoke or ashes, edibles such as brownies or cookies, creams, teas, and eye drops. As we look at what science tell us we can see that marijuana is much safer then other drugs such as alcohol and cigarettes. “As with other recreational substances, marijuana 's health effects depend on the frequency of use, the potency and amount of marijuana consumed, and the age of the

Legalization of Marijuana (Rough Draft) For the past decade one of the biggest debates that has seemed to get everyone taking sides it the idea of the legalization of marijuana. Marijuana is not something new to the American government, it has been an ongoing battle to control the seemingly harmless plant that the government deemed illegal with no justification other than we still do not know enough about the plant. Marijuana has, compared to other both legal and illegal drugs, low effects on the human body. “No death from marijuana overdose has ever been reported and the ill effects of alcohol, nicotine, and prescription painkillers (...) vastly overweight those of marijuana” ( Ingraham, Janet. “Lee, Martin A. Research has also shown that marijuana “ use does not lead to physical dependence, and there are no withdrawal symptoms when the drug is not discontinued” (“drug use” Britannica School.
